FIREARMS PURCHASE & TRANSFERS

We would like to state that RT Guns strictly prohibits any form of Straw Purchases, as they are illegal. A Straw Purchase involves one individual agreeing to acquire a firearm on behalf of another. It is considered illegal for any individual to purchase a firearm and pretend to be the actual buyer for another person.

If an individual purchases a firearm from an FFL dealer and falsifies information on the Federal Form 4473 regarding the buyer’s identity, they may face charges for making a false statement on a Federal Firearms Transaction Record. It is important to note that lying on this federal form is considered a felony, and it can result in imprisonment for up to five years and additional fines. This punishment applies even if the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) denies the transaction.

1. ONLINE FIREARM PURCHASE

It is mandatory that firearms purchased in the United States must be delivered to a Federal Firearm Licensed Dealer (FFL) for transfer to the buyer. Before submitting an online order, it is important to check the state laws of the state of residence. Buyers must be 21 years old to purchase handguns, rifles, shotguns, fully assembled AR’s, and stripped lower receivers. Additionally, the purchaser must reside in the same state where they plan to transfer the firearm, with the exception being for active-duty military personnel.

  • When purchasing a firearm, it is important to note that all dealers charge transfer fees. It is advisable to inquire about these fees from the FFL dealer before selecting them to receive your firearm.

  • Once you have selected an FFL dealer, you must arrange for the transfer of your firearm to them. When placing an order, use the FFL dealer’s address as the shipping address.

  • After placing your order, it is recommended that you contact the FFL dealer to inform them that you will be transferring a firearm to or from RT Guns

  • To ensure that proper communication is established between the two dealers, please provide the FFL dealer with the contact information of the dealer from whom you purchased your firearm.
Transfer Completion

3. PICK UP YOUR FIREARM TO COMPLETE THE TRANSFER

It is mandatory for your FFL dealer to have you complete a 4473 and pass a background check through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). Irrespective of whether you purchase a firearm from another gun store, the background check process will be the same for any purchase. Once the background check is completed, and the buyer has passed, they can take their newly acquired firearm home.
